Well, if you were looking to start camping out the night of November 16th, you may not want to do that if your planning on camping out front of these Best Buy’s:

The following Best Buy locations will have a MIDNIGHT LAUNCH OF THE PS3. If you want to get your PS3 before any one else, this is the best way to go about it. So start camping out Nov. 16th in the morning to get your PS3 at Midnight.
I would check your Best Buy retailer to make sure that they are still doing the midnight launch.

You canBuy A Playstation 3 Pre-Order On eBay. Most posts are Toys R’ Us pre-order reciepts, so you know your not going to get shafted and lose a big chunk of change on a piece of paper.

Playstation 3 Backwards Compatibilty Tests
Gamespot has an article about PS3 and backwards compatibility of PS2 Games.
If you happen to get yourself a PlayStation 3, and you were to put a Playstation 2 disc in the drive, it will show up in the manager as a “Playstation 2 Format Disc.” Before you can launch and play the game, you must create an internal memory card on the hard disk to enable game saving. Most if not all PS2 games seem to play fine. Gran Turismo 4 loads and plays fine on the PS3. The Playstation 3 does not do anything for the outdated PS2 or PS1 graphics. But Gran Turismo 4 has support for 1080i included.
For a Playstation 1 test they used Battle Area Toshinden 3. The PS3 had no problems running the outdated software on it, but did absolutely nothing to improve the graphics. This is my opinion should be modified and updated post launch. Being a Computer Programmer myself, you can easily add some filters and sharpening effects to get rid of all the jaggies that are plagued on the PS1.
The new Playstation 3 can play PS3 games from any region but it will still obey region restrictions placed on older PS games.

IGN.com has produced a list of the most anticipated games for the PS3. Its looking like a pretty sweet linup for this system, and frankly I cant wait to get ahold of one on launch day.

Personally Im really looking forward to this title. I have been a complete die-hard fan of the Metal Gear series from the NES and up. Too bad it seems like there will be more games out then the Playstation 3 itself. Sad days really.

Getting A PS3 Might Be That Much Harder Now…

80,000 PS3 Units…..
Thats right boys and girls, whats worse then 100,000 PS3 Units at launch? 80,000! The Japanense publication ” Nikkei Keizai Shimbun” has just released information today that due to componet shortages, there will only be 80,000 PS3’s available at launch in Japan. Its pretty crazy numbers coming from over there considering that when they launched the PlayStation 2 back in 2000 it sold over a million units at launch.
Many companies taking pre-launch orders are now pulling back their pre-order service. If you do have a Japanese raincheck for a PS3 on launch day, you may want to line up anyways the day before launch. I would not be suprised if you didnt receive one.
Now for people in North America what does that mean to us? Well, if Japan is not going to be getting a fifth of what they projected to produce, you can most likely safely say the same may happen to the North America launch.
This is going to turn into a bloodbath….

Showcasing PS3 Kiosks
Speculations have been arising about possible PS3 Demo units coming to retailers before the system launches. Sony Computer Entertainment announced today their newest marking tool…. The PlayStation TV.
You should be seeing these units popping up across retailers shortly. The units consist of an LCD TV with a 60GB PS3 hooked up to it. Sony will use these units to show the unit off before launch. Games expected to be included with these units are:

Power Smash 3
Gran Turismo HD
Ridge Racer 7

Rumble Feature A Reality?
Well after picking up and reading the latest issue of “Famitsu PS2”, it included a short Q&A section with Hori, one of the Playstations officially licensed game peripherial developers. The best part of this interview was the section concerning the excluded ‘rumble’ feature on the Sixaxis controler.
When Hori was asked if there would be a rumble feature ever on the PS3 controllers, he responded by saying “We have some ideas. However, we’d need cooperation from software makers.” Hopefully the software developers look at games the same way gamers do. If so, we should be seeing rumble on the PS3.
Hori has also stated that there will be two new peripherials that will be released with the Japan launch of Playstation 3.
1) Multi-Card reader/writer compatible with the Memory Stick, SD Cards, Flash Cards and a variety of other ones aswell
2) 256MB, 512MB and a 1GB Memory Stick
Yes the memory sticks dont really count as a device, but they are sped-up for gaming. Typical access times on cards are much slower.
All I can say is hopefully we see some shake in this new controller. Introduced around the PS/N64 era being a great hit, hopefully its here to stay with the PS3 aswell.

Get Yourself a PS3 TOMOROW.
Well, almost. You still have to wait till launch, but Toys R Us will be accpeting pre-order requests for PlayStation 3 starting tommorow. All it will cost you is $50 for the initial deposit and you are guaranteed a PS3 at launch. There is no information on pre-order numbers, but that information should be rolling in somtime tommorow.
So if your at home right now, you may want to leave and sit outside a Toys R Us. With the dismal speculation of launch numbers, if you get there and see a huge line, theres no point in waiting.

Instead Of A PS3 This Christmas….
How about a $600+ Piece of paper! Thats right Billy, your parents love you, and as such, “Santa” has brought you a piece of paper worth more then your life savings. Think this is bull? Think again. IGN.com is reporting that PS3 will be selling rainchecks to consumers. People who want a PS3 for christmas, but can’t due to the PS3 Shortages can then buy a raincheck.

Apparently this only concerns the Japanese market as of right now. I personally dont think this is a great marketing move on Sony’s part. I know they want to “not miss the boat” this christmas season, but man, rainchecks? C’mon Sony.

New PS3 Launch Numbers
IGN.com is reporting that Sonys second quarter financial briefing that happened yesterday was full of bad news for stockholders, but good news for gamers. Sonys Chief Operating Financial Officer said that the PS3 should ship somewhere in the neighbourhood of 6 Million Units worldwide.
Many analysts and industry have shown doubt in the ability to reach that goal. Recently a Sony publisher issued a prediction that Sony will be able to sell just over 4 Million PS3 units by the end of the year.
