Tony Hawk Project 8 Review

“Great Game, Little Flaws And Some Fun Gameplay.”

The last Tony Hawk game that I had played was most recently on the Xbox 360, but it looks as if this newest addition to the Tony Hawk series also added a new game engine to keep pace with the new, beefier consoles. There are some serious visual additions in this game as compared to the previous versions of the Tony Series.

When you first get into the game, it has a nice tutorial that will bring any player that has not been familiar with this empire quickly up to speed. I was impressed how good the tutorial actually was. Now this game is available for the Xbox 360 too, but what makes it better on the PlayStation 3? The sexy SIXAXIS Controller. The PlayStation 3 version of this game offers the ability to set up the SIXAXIS Controller for motion sensing. You can now execute moves by the way you balance the controller. Now that being said, it is not as accurate as using something like the D-Pad, but still, its pretty freaking sweet.

One dissapointment I had was the fact that there is no online play. PS2 was pretty good for this, and well… The PS3 doesnt have it. Gameplay itself makes up for this.

When you boil the whole game down, its basically the exact same as any other enjoyable Tony Hawk game. One feature they did add was almost like a Matrix bullet time mode called “Nail the trick”. Its acutally pretty hard to use at first but after toying with it awile, I personally got used to the timing, and it makes executing some moves alot better.
