Playstation 3 :: Atari Founder Slams The PS3 Console
In a recent inteview over at RedHerring, ATARI founder had expressed some very intresting personal thoughts on the Playstation 3. During the interview Nolan Bushnell had said nothing but positive things about the upcoming Nintendo Wii. He expressed that Nintendo will be “expand[ing] the market beyond the hardcore.” And he also praised the 360 in its simple to use autoring tools and Xbox Live!
When there was mention of the Playstation 3, he had nothing positive to say about the console. Apparently Bushnell had expressed that the PlayStation is a horrible console to develop on. He also went on to talk about how Sony has “arrogance and capriciousness” towards development and your forced to develop on just because of the sheer userbase. He also when on to say that anyone whom developed on a PlayStation 3 over the 360 was an “idiot” for doing so.
When he was asked about previous PlayStation sucesses he responded that the reason why they were so good, was because of sheer release timing. “They had the right pricing at the right time [and were] almost the accidental winner,” he says. He also goes on to describe that he would be suprised if the PS3 sold 1 Million units by this time next year.
Now this being said, and a computer programmer myself, I can sympithize with Bushnell on deveopment aspects. Somtimes you can be forced to program on a certain platform, and it can be hell if its not set up right, or set up half-assed. Now the garbage that he was spewing about Sony’s new PS3 going to be a flop is BS. The only reason why they would only sell 1 Million units is because of production issues, and I dont believe they are going to have that.

Playstation 3 :: 6 Circuit City Stores To Have 100 PS3’s at Launch
Well this may make things a bit easier to grab a Playstation 3 at launch time. The following Circuit City stores are guaranteed to have 100 Playstation 3 units at launch:
* Union Square: New York, NY – Store 3679
* Torrance: Hawthourne, Los Angeles – Store 404
* Cherry Hill: Mount Laurel, NJ – Store 0734
* Schaumburn: Schaumburg, IL – Store 3111

Now when you line up out front of one of these at midnight, you will be able to count the people in line and know if you even stand a chance. But since this information has been released and made public, I guarantee you people from all areas of that current state will be lining up out front. I know personally one of the highest search terms on this blog is PS3 Launch Locations. The numbers are VERY high. So if I were you, Line up at like noon the day before. Yes your going to look like an idiot and people are going to ask you “Why are you waiting in a non-existant line?” as customers enter the store, but assure them that you are going to be much cooler then them when you secure yourself a cutting-edge Playstation 3.

Playstation 3 Preorders at Bestbuy.com All Voided
It seems late late last two nights ago there was a computer error on BestBuy’s website which allowed you to purchase a preorder for the upcoming Playstation 3 Console. When going through the whole buying process there were no errors or complications and the flow seemed like it was legitimate, however this was not the case. What was shocking to me the night II saw this, was the ability to do a pre-order. In all the times I have ever dealt with BestBuy I have yet to see a case where they allow pre-orders. I also phoned up a friend of mine (who works there) and asked if they were taking any pre-orders of any sort and he also told me that they were not taking any pre-orders what-so-ever.
So to clear up the issues, BestBuy’s pre-orders that were done online are all null and void. If you purchased one of these units you have your money returned to you.

Playstation 3 :: A Great Reason To Give To Your Wife When Purchasing a PS3
Well we have all been there… well most of us with significant others… A new console, device, next gen gadget comes out, and you HAVE to have it. But you have to run it by the boss. You sweet talk her, tell her how amazing she is, the list goes on. Then later on that week you pop the question “Can I buy a playstation 3?? Pleeeeease?”. Usually with guns-a-blazin’ you get shot right down with a “ARE YOU NUTS?!”.
Well it looks like I may have compiled a list of excuses you can use to opt yourself into being able to purchase a Playstation 3 of your own.
1) The Sims 3 for PS3
Electronic Arts is currently has The Sims 3 in development for the PS3, so if your signiciant other plays any sort of video games, this may be your entry point. You can say something to the fact of “But hun, the only way to play the Sims 3 is on the PS3!!” Yeah might not be a big selling point, but there are more….
2) Blu-Ray Format on Playstation 3
Yeah I know its kinda of a killer statement to justify this, but you can watch cutting edge higher-then-dvd quality movies on your PS3. Just think, that HDTV you have would be sick with an awesome blue-ray player. So now you and her can cuddle up to watching some good ol’ Titanic. *puke*
3) Sell the Old System To Get The New Playstation
Since the new PlayStation 3 plays Playstation 2 Games, and PlayStation 1 games you can now technially sell your old PS2 and Ps1 systems. Now obviously the PS1 wont sell for much, but thats not the point! Simply tell her that you will recoupe some of the loss from selling the older stuff. Plus once you get the PS3, all the PS2 will do is collect dust.
4) The Playstation 3 TV web-browser
Not a huge selling point, but how cool is it to surf the web and check your email from your couch? Definatly kick ass.

Playstation 3 :: The Same Amount Of Launch Units As Xbox 360?
Picked up a small tid-bit of information this morning… It seems that Electronic Arts CFO Warren Jensen has been quoted as saying: “We’re thinking that with PlayStation 3 in North America, the range is probably 500,000 to 800,000. If you take the middle of that range, that’s approximately what Microsoft sold last year on the Xbox 360.”
No official launch numbers are out from Sony yet. Now it strikes me funny that someone at EA would be saying something about the North American launch numbers. Yes, I can see that they would want to know launch numbers of how many units will be out, as you dont want another Atari: ET game to happen. (If those of you are not familiar with the game ET, you can most likely find one in a landfill in the United States, as they produced more games then Atari 2600’s)
Makes sense right? Dont produce more then you need to. EA is the producer for “Need For Speed: Carbon” which will be out on launch day. Playstation 3 needs to throw some magic this christmas season. If they can produce 800,000 units at launch, they may be able to recoupe some ground on the Xbox 360 quickly.

Playstation 3 Launch Confirmed For Hong Kong and Taiwan
It seems that the Playstation 3’s are going to be a hot “sold-out” item this year, but it looks like the PS3 will be launching November 17th (The same day as the N. America Launch) in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Technology site “DigiSite” quoted as saying Sony Computer Entertainment Director Tetsuhiko Yasuda said that the Taiwan version of the Playstation 3 equipped with a 60 GB Hard Drive would be launching first. The cost of the unit will be equivilent to that of $545 USD. The 20GB unit is set to launch in December, with a price tag of around $455.
Now my question is this, will this be the same for North America? Could it be a possiblity that there will be a second shipment before December? Maybe not alot of units, but it may shed some hope on people who do not get one on launch day.

Playstation 3 :: Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas
So I was trolling my usual PS3 News sites and came across an awesome review on Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas. There are only three words to describe this game. “Oh. My. God.” From the Vegas Pyramids, Empire State Building, blinking lights and Vegas strippers, detail is amazing on this game. From a paradise to a graveyard is exactly what Los Vegas has become.
After a terrorist attack on Vegas, Team Rainbow is called out to find a street of abandoned and blown up cars. Americas favourite playground is held hostage, and the the Government is relying on two new operatives to sort this out. The Bellagio fountain, Glowing Pyramid at the MGM Grand and the Paris Hotel all stand out in the distance when your main targets wait inside the Calypso Casino below.
Graphics are amazing on this piece and its to be expected with the Rainbow series. This game should be ready at launch, and if your not quite sure which game to pick up with your new PS3, this may be the way to go. This really does showcase how well the Playstation 3 can handle its video. The attention to detail on the models are amazing, and the terrain is pure eye candy.

Getting A PS3 Might Be That Much Harder Now…

80,000 PS3 Units…..
Thats right boys and girls, whats worse then 100,000 PS3 Units at launch? 80,000! The Japanense publication ” Nikkei Keizai Shimbun” has just released information today that due to componet shortages, there will only be 80,000 PS3’s available at launch in Japan. Its pretty crazy numbers coming from over there considering that when they launched the PlayStation 2 back in 2000 it sold over a million units at launch.
Many companies taking pre-launch orders are now pulling back their pre-order service. If you do have a Japanese raincheck for a PS3 on launch day, you may want to line up anyways the day before launch. I would not be suprised if you didnt receive one.
Now for people in North America what does that mean to us? Well, if Japan is not going to be getting a fifth of what they projected to produce, you can most likely safely say the same may happen to the North America launch.
This is going to turn into a bloodbath….

Get Yourself a PS3 TOMOROW.
Well, almost. You still have to wait till launch, but Toys R Us will be accpeting pre-order requests for PlayStation 3 starting tommorow. All it will cost you is $50 for the initial deposit and you are guaranteed a PS3 at launch. There is no information on pre-order numbers, but that information should be rolling in somtime tommorow.
So if your at home right now, you may want to leave and sit outside a Toys R Us. With the dismal speculation of launch numbers, if you get there and see a huge line, theres no point in waiting.

Instead Of A PS3 This Christmas….
How about a $600+ Piece of paper! Thats right Billy, your parents love you, and as such, “Santa” has brought you a piece of paper worth more then your life savings. Think this is bull? Think again. IGN.com is reporting that PS3 will be selling rainchecks to consumers. People who want a PS3 for christmas, but can’t due to the PS3 Shortages can then buy a raincheck.
